Mackinder Intelligence
Mackinder Intelligence is a Singapore-based geopolitical risk intelligence firm I'm building with Nigel Li, who's the founder and CEO. I'm CTO and CIO. The whole point of the company is to elevate the collective knowledge base of Central Asia and the broader Eurasian region, which is chronically underserved by mainstream geopolitical research (which tends to be dominated by a handful of Western institutions out of Washington DC, carrying all the baggage of whoever funds them).
The gap we're filling is pretty specific: research on Eurasia is either locked behind ivory tower academia and expensive paywalls, or shaped by ideological priors that don't reflect what's actually happening on the ground. Mackinder's whole thing is to platform local expertise over distant commentary, drop the stereotypes, and make the work readable for people who aren't already specialists.
There are three things we're building. The Mackinder Mainframe is an interactive web tool for mapping geopolitical trends across Eurasia, with premium features that let paid users manipulate variables to actually project the region forward instead of just reading static reports. Mackinder Memos are weekly publications focused on the stories the major outlets miss, with an emphasis on tangible developments readers can actually act on (business opportunities, conferences, regulatory shifts). And we do regulatory consulting for clients navigating the Singapore or Central Asian regulatory environment, with staff on both sides.
Current team is Nigel as founder/CEO, me as CTO and CIO, and Nicholas Castillo as our inaugural Caucasus Research Fellow. LLP registration with ACRA Singapore is pending.
